Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (Lourdes Hospital) successfully launched the inaugural STEM Enrichment Program (STEP) on September 13, 2025, at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel – Vermosa Campus.
The program is designed to enrich students’ knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by combining hands-on workshops with interactive lectures, making STEM concepts more practical, engaging, and relevant.
Throughout the day, junior and senior high school students from NCR joined immersive learning sessions, including MSTR Class—focused classroom discussions that break down advanced STEM topics—and the Research Congress, a workshop on the fundamentals of research. These activities were made possible with the expertise of partners such as the UP National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED), Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines (BIOTA Philippines), and the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).
The MSTR Class and Research Congress are just two of the three core components of STEP. Completing the program lineup is the Circuit: Robotics Roadshow, an upcoming series of activities to be conducted in grade schools and high schools across NCR and CALABARZON.
Lourdes Hospital continues to establish itself as a nation building hospital with initiatives such as STEP that bridge the gaps of healthcare and education. By empowering the next generation to think critically and innovate boldly, it is a meaningful step forward in shaping the future of STEM education and healthcare in the Philippines.
